Faces

I like observing people and during my last trip to Nepal,my native country – I visited a couple of temples. During one such visit, i was able to take these pictures. These faces particularly took to my interest – the signs of time and age clearly written on their faces.   All of them were devotees at the Manakamana Temple , where it is believed ones wishes are fulfilled.

Old men’s eyes are like old men’s memories; they are strongest for things a long way off
~ GEORGE ELIOT, Romola

An exhausted devotee at Manakamana

What is the worst of woes that wait on age?
What stamps the wrinkle deeper on the brow?
To view each loved one blotted from life’s page,
And be alone on earth, as I am now.
~ LORD BYRON, Childe Harold

Friends, sisters , cousins – maybe? This picture probably is well described by these lines:

Grow old along with me!
The best is yet to be,
The last of life, for which the first was made.

~ ROBERT BROWNING, Rabbi ben Ezra

  1. Hello fantastic artist – you really are amazing. Take those classes you were planning to in the summers and blow the mind of the world away. Happy clicking sathi – just loved it here.

  2. Wow!! Those are some very beautiful pictures, and your comments on each make them even more beautiful….loved it Pratibha…

    • Like you said elsewhere,Sheba – i wish i had the luxury of time and money to pursue this hobby seriously – well time, i have plenty of right now *wink*. But you have always been an immense supporter and have always been vocal about it. Thank you never seems enough.

  3. Great pictures, and the quotes fit them perfectly. I also like to observe people, to imagine the meaning of the lines on their faces; I wonder what is going on behind their eyes.
